When I think of my Big sister, I cannot help but smile because she has made an enormous impact on my life. God has used her in so many ways and she taught me how to be closer to Him as well as make a difference in other people’s lives. I remember when I first spoke to her, 3 years ago. She was the first person I had met in a while that I felt was interested in getting to know me as a person and really listened to what I had to say and was going through.
Her kindness, gentleness and caring nature drew me close to her. When I would sit by myself in church because I was in a bad mood or feeling down, she would come and talk to me. When I would speak to her, my problems no longer felt so big because she passed on faith that I would overcome.
When most people had left me and even told me to figure things out for myself, she was there, encouraging me and mentoring me to become a woman of God. Though I was such a negative person, full of doubts and complexes, she showed nothing but love and patience towards me. When I look back, I think, how could someone put up with me for 2 years, full of doubts, always complaining and not believing in myself.
Because of the One who truly lives in her and the belief she had in me, she was able to put up with me. She believed in me before I even believed in myself. Whenever I was sick and not able to attend a service, she would call me that same night to check that I was OK.
She is not only a big sister to me, but a spiritual mother and friend, all in one! Even without saying a word she can light up a room, just by being there. She truly has the light of God in her. I only see her once a month now but a simple phone call or email from her can brighten up my day because of the spirit she passes on through the words.
I have learned so much from her and I am still learning a lot and I am truly grateful for all her help and support. God has truly blessed me with an amazing big sister who I love admire a lot. She is not only beautiful outside, but inside too.
