Gotta get my hair done, gotta revamp my wardrobe, can’t forget about my manicure or pedicure or my facial. Teeth whitening appointment at the dentist tomorrow, followed by an appointment with the nutritionist. My body has to be in great shape, I’ve got to be in with the latest fashion, have to always be looking my best.

Is the way we look really all there is to beauty or is it skin deep? Is beauty in the hand of the beholder or can it be found in the latest edition of Vogue, Grazia or Marie Claire magazine?

Have you ever come across someone who you might not think looks particularly beautiful at first glance but after a conversation with them their mannerism and personality outshines your immediate perception of them. Then they are those who look beautiful but their beautiful looks are diminished due to unattractive personality traits.

Looking at these two different examples it is clear to see that there is more to beauty than meets the eye. They are many different aspects to beauty and it all starts within. When a person is well within herself (free from the insecurities, malicious thoughts, envy, bad temper, selfishness, hatred and everything else that corrupts the heart and mind) it shows outside by the way she speaks, behaves, react to things and treats others. She does not seek attention but draws peoples attention because she is different. As this inner beauty develops she starts to shine and people begin to admire her and love to be around her.

As a result of this inner beauty, she looks after her body and outer appearance and carefully picks her outfits making sure they are appropriate but still fashionable. So, it’s not wrong to look good, we should all make that effort, but let’s focus more on the interior, getting rid of those bad habits, and unattractive personality traits so that we can truly be beautiful women God created us to be inside and out
