I don’t know about you but after making a prayer, taking an action of faith or even taking part in a campaign of Israel, I expected immediate results. As I believed that I did my part, I wanted the blessing there and then. And when I did not see what I asked for I would complain to God. When the complaint brought about no results, I would go the pastor and ask why nothing was happening. I kept being told to be patient, not to doubt and just believe and persevere. This however, did not stop me from being anxious and thinking that I was never going to receive what I asked for.

Little did I know, this attitude was delaying things. With such behaviour I was not capable of receiving anything from God as I would probably ruin it. There are things I asked God for ages ago and fought so long for which I recieved only recently. There can be two reasons for this. Firstly, the doubts, anxiety and fears I had caused delay and secondly God had to prepare me for the blessing.

You see, they are some blessings we experience over time. Just because you walk out into a field and don’t see a crop, it doesn’t mean the seeds aren’t there; God has planted things in our lives that will come to fruition at different times. Before we receive the blessing, we have to go through a process of preparation and that sometimes can take time. Our hearts and minds have to be changed and we may have to deal with insecurities, personality defects, overcome certain fears and mature spiritually before we receive something great from God.

During the process of preparation, the Bible tells us not to lose heart when doing good, for in due season we will receive if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9)

This means we have to have faith and patience otherwise the blessing will never come
