Thinking about what I wrote in my previous post yesterday, I remembered the example I gave to the TF Teens last Friday while teaching them about giving and receiving. We learned that Solomon relieved what he didn’t even ask for from God because of the consideration he had towards others. He asked God for wisdom so that he could judge the people of Israel and create fairness among them. Such an act caused God to give him riches that no one else will ever receive. Solomon was a giver.

I wholeheartedly believe that because I have stretched out my hand to help those in need, in any way I can, be it through prayer, words of encouragement and other support, I received the same help in my time of need. I shared with the pre-teens that I mentor, the experiences I had of giving things to people simply out of kindness and receiving much more from people I would never have expected would give me anything and even without expecting to receive anything.

If we find ourselves hardly receiving anything from anyone, it is most probably because we are not giving. I am not just talking about material things like gifts, but kindness, a smile, a hug, a thank you, showing gratitude, giving your ear when someone needs to express their worries, words of encouragement, love and the list is endless,.

There are so many ways for us to give to people and surely when we give we will receive, even if our intention was never to receive anything!

It is more blessed to give than to receive -  Acts 20:35
