Due to a particular situation I was feeling very low. I had become numb and even indifferent to things I would normally not be indifferent towards. I was not my usual self and I felt very uncomfortable. I carried on with my normal duties and went to work but that whole day I did not even pick up my Bible nor utter a word to God. As I was lying in my bed, (it was around 12 midnight) out of nowhere I gained strength. It is very hard for me to explain exactly what happened but it was as if I was being lifted inside

The heaviness that was supressing my heart and mind went and from that day I was never the same again! It has been a week and a half since then and what was bothering me has not bothered me since at all and though I have faced tougher challenges and setbacks since then, I have not gone down! Straight away I knew at that moment, someone was praying for me. I do not know who, but I knew they were. I couldn’t help but remember the story of Peter when he was in prison. For those who do not know this story, here is a bit of it.

“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands” Acts 12: 5 – 7

Peter was released because of the prayers of his church, family and friends. Praying is a powerful tool and can set free those who are captive. I never claim to have achieved things merely through the use of my own faith because I know that one of the reasons why I am still here today and even achieved certain things was through the prayers and spiritual support of others. We may not know who is praying for us but be sure they are people out there who are and some of them we may never even know that it was through their prayers we were comforted, strengthened, protected, guided etc. I thank God for whoever prayed for me that night and for everyone else who has ever and will continue to support me through prayer and advice. God bless you always!
