Every day is an opportunity to learn something new. If we pay close attention we will learn something even from the most simple and basic things. At the training course I went to yesterday, I learned things I would like to share with you in parts.
Tone of your voice
The tone of our voice can devalue our words. It’s not what we say but how we say things that actually capture a person’s interest. How many times have we been persuaded to buy something because of the charisma and enthusiasm of the sales person? And how many times has our minds travelled in class due to the bland delivery of a teacher who made the lesson sound so boring. My tone of voice is not the greatest and has sent mixed signals before, however I have been working on it and people have noticed the change. I remember a friend called me and just because the tone of my voice had changed, she did not believe it was me at first and thought someone else had answered my phone.
If we do not watch the tone of our voice, we can sound rude without meaning to, we can pass on mixed signals to others, and some even thinking we are disinterested in what they are saying or that we are shy or nervous when that may not even be the case.
